About Us

QuareClare started in 2020 as a social group whose aim is to build a welcoming network of LGBTQIA+ people in Clare from all backgrounds. We host social events throughout the year across Clare and actively support other pride movements and organizations by organizing day trips to Pride events across Ireland for our members.

In 2022, Quare Clare hosted our first Pride Celebration Weekend which included various events throughout County Clare including a Queer Poetry Night, the display of one of the Irish Names Quilt, a LGBTQ+ Youth Event, and a Drag, Dance, and DJ evening in Shannon attended by over 150 people.

In February of 2023, a strategic planning meeting was held to develop Quare Clare's Vision and Mission. From the meeting a steering committee was formed who finalised our vision and mission and developed our strategic goals to ensure the continued growth of Quare Clare.

Our mission is to build a vibrant LGBTQIA+ community in Clare, celebrating diversity and inclusivity by creating spaces and opportunities for our community to thrive through education, advocacy, and community building.

Goal 1: Increase Awareness & Visibility of the LGBTQIA+ Community in Clare

Create public awareness around the challenges facing the LGBTQIA+ community and the importance of promoting equality and acceptance.

Collaborate with local businesses, schools, and government organisations to increase visibility and promote acceptance of the LGBTQIA+ community.

Identify strategic partnership opportunities with national organisations in order to provide the expertise

Identify members who are interested in representing Quare Clare in the media and provide media focused training

Develop communications and media plans that align with our mission and vision and contribute to the achievement of our strategic goals.

Establish a Media Team to manage our social platforms, website and communications and provide members with the necessary training

Goal 2: Foster a Safe and Inclusive Environment for the LGBTQIA+ Community

Develop and implement a series of educational programmes and workshops aimed at promoting acceptance and understanding within the LGBTQIA+ community.

Advocate for policies and legislation that support the rights and well-being of the LGBTQIA+ community in Clare.

Become a conduit through which the larger Clare community can connect and grow.
